Worksafe is making initial inquiries into the death of a man who was electrocuted on a rural property in South Waikato.
The man died after being electrocuted by power lines on Sunday afternoon in Ngatira.
Police said emergency services were alerted to the incident shortly before five o'clock, however the man died at the scene.
Another person was flown to hospital by chopper and remained in a serious condition, police said in a statement.
WorkSafe said it had been notified of the incident and was looking into it.
"We understand trees were being felled at the time and are making initial inquiries to establish what our next steps might be," a spokesperson said.
The man's death has been referred to the coroner.
