A seven-year-old boy has been airlifted to hospital after being trodden on by a bull in rural Canterbury.
A Canterbury West Coast Air Rescue spokesperson says the 500-kilogram beast jumped the fence and stomped on the boy in Woodbury just after midday, leaving him with abdominal and rib injuries.
He remains in Christchurch Hospital in a stable condition.
