More than 300 sheep which were thought to be missing from a farm near Gore have been found.
Turns out, they hadn't gone anywhere at all. Nor were they stolen.
Police said there had merely been an administrative error, and every single one of the 320 sheep have been accounted for.
The sheep, valued at $65,000, were reported missing from the Waimumu area about a month ago. Eight of them had distinctive orange spraypaint marks on their backs.
Police say no criminal offence is believed to have taken place.
