Internet enthusiasts are gearing up for this year's NetHui, which begins in Auckland today.
They will explore how the web is influencing Kiwis' lives, and what our digital future holds.
So how do our internet skills compare to the rest of the world? And what challenges do we face getting up to speed?
Internet NZ work programme director Andrew Cushen joined Paul Henry this morning.
"Over the last five years the Government has put a great deal of money through both ultra-fast broadband and rural broadband initiatives to make New Zealand's internet some of the best in the world and by 2020, 96 percent of New Zealanders are going to have really fantastic connectivity."
