It was the closest the All Blacks have come to a defeat in 15 Tests against Pacific Island nations, but they were good enough to beat Samoa 25-16 in Apia.
This morning coach Steve Hansen has being made an honorary high chief by a Samoan village in recognition of his involvement in making the Test possible.
Jim Kayes joined Paul Henry live from Apia this morning.
"One of the wonderful things about yesterday is that win or lose, everyone was really going to go away happy because I think for most Samoans, the All Blacks are their second-favourite team. They were pretty happy just to have them here in Apia."
