Maori Language Month: The Final Word of the Day

Newsworthy has extended Māori Language Week in our own Te Marama o Te Reo Māori.

We didn’t come up with the idea. The credit for that goes to a student at Waiuku College, who suggested it to Prime Minister John Key.

He didn’t love the idea, but we liked it so much we adopted it for the show.

Every weekday this month, our weather map was in te reo Māori, and a Māori word of the day featured on the show and here on Newsworthy.nz.

This is the last day of our Māori Language Month.

Appropriately, the word of the day is marama, or month.

This has been Te Marama o Te Reo Māori.
