Imagine spending 30 years of your life working on the best invention you can think of, cracking it and then not getting to play with what you made.
That is what has effectively happened to the guy who invented the jetpack.
It's not all sad for Glenn Martin though.
He has been nominated as the country's most inspiring individual at this year's New Zealand Innovators Awards.
Mr Martin left the company because he decided it was more important to develop a jetpack that can be used professionally for things like search and rescue than a jetpack everyday people could use.
He left the company in June but now he's also working on a few new brilliant ideas.
Story went to catch up with Mr Martin, who revealed what he thinks the best invention waiting to be invented is.
