2015 marks the centenary of the beginning of the Armenian genocide in World War I.
It's thought around 1.5 million Armenians, Assyrians and Ottoman Greeks were slaughtered by Turkish soldiers in the old Ottoman Empire because of their religious beliefs.
Armenian-American musician Serj Tankian's own grandparents survived it.
Tankian, frontman for rock band System of a Down, sat down with reporter Tony Wright to discuss the genocide and how it has shaped his political ideas.
