The month of September is Mahuru Maori, a time when many Te Reo speakers will attempt to converse solely in the Māori language.
Among them will be 28-year-old former lawyer Piripi Winiata.
In just four short years, Piripi has gone from having zero Māori language to speaking at a level many take a lifetime to achieve.
Piripi has been invited to attend Te Panekiretanga o Te Reo, New Zealand's most prestigious language institute, an invitation only academy for excellence in te reo Māori.
