Jacinda Ardern is being urged to set aside time to spend with the new Australian Prime Minister while in New York for the UN General Assembly.
Ms Ardern flies out this weekend, where former Commonwealth Secretary-General Sir Don McKinnon expects she'll get a lot of attention from other world leaders.
"It's speed-dating at the highest level," he told The AM Show on Thursday.
But he's urging her to slow down the pace when it comes to Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison.
"There's a few rough edges there - a private meeting for those two is probably a very good thing at this stage," said Sir Don.
