A Northland garage had its Warrants of Fitness license suspended after it issued a WoF to a vehicle which was later involved in a fatal crash.
The New Zealand Transport Agency has admitted that the lack of seatbelt checks during WoF inspections were uncovered last December, and did not do enough to make a change.
Others have blamed Kiwi culture, saying people swap their mate's good tyres or good seat belts for the inspection, before swapping them back after.
