He's long since hung up the football boots in pursuit of a career as an entrepreneur. In 2016, he co-founded Allbirds, which designs environmentally friendly footwear.
Since then, he's absolutely nailed it in the States with many celebrities like Jennifer Garner, Mila Kunis and former US president Barack Obama endorsing his product.
On Thursday night, he was recognised at the 2019 Kea Awards in Auckland, for his environmentally friendly gear. Tim Brown spoke to The AM Show about it.
