Former Kiwis playmaker Benji Marshall has slammed reports he was looking into representing Scotland in international rugby league.

Marshall told Fairfax Media his meeting with Scotland coach Steve McCormack in June was "bulls***" and that he was in line to play for the Kiwis on the end of season tour.

"I have no interest to play for Scotland at all," Marshall said. "I'm fully committed to playing for New Zealand.

"I went to the last meeting of New Zealand squad members six weeks ago, everything between me and coach Stephen Kearney is fine and I am in line for the end of season tour."

Rugby League Week reported Marshall had Scottish ancestry, but Marshall said he wasn't eligible for the rugby league minnows.

"This stuff makes me look bad and I am pretty angry about it," Marshall said.

"I have had family calling me about it, but I have no intentions of playing for Scotland. I am not even eligible."

The 30-year-old has played 27 Tests for New Zealand including the Rugby League World Cup win over Australia in 2008.

After long being first-choice at stand-off for the Kiwis, Marshall fell out of favour with Kearney after his code-switch to the Blues.

He hasn't played for the Kiwis since returning to the NRL with the Dragons.
