While the All Blacks were in good spirits at today's session, it is a tough time for those that missed out on selection.

The likes of Israel Dagg, Charles Piutau and Lima Sopoaga all played for the All Blacks this year, while for Cory Jane it could be the end of the road.

After an injury-plagued year, Jane admits his chances for the World Cup squad were always a long-shot.

"In all honesty, I didn't play for the All Blacks all year, and I've been battling injuries throughout."

Jane isn't yet giving up on the All Black dream. At 32 he appears unlikely to add to his 53 caps, but he is signed through until 2017 so he is not lost to New Zealand rugby.
