Lisa Carrington's double success at the Kayak World Champs has many calling her a lock for two golds - including our most successful Olympian.

After winning the K1-500 metres title for the first time a day earlier, she has once again proven an unstoppable force in the more explosive K1-200 by defending her world crown in Milan.

"I guess it is my favoured event, but it's also really hard to back up two big races, but it's been a really good weekend and I'm happy with how things have gone," says Carrington.

Kayaking great Ian Ferguson is less understated about the accomplishment.

"That's just total control of world kayaking, she's the queen of kayak now," he says.

Ferguson's four Olympic gold medals remain the most achieved by a Kiwi, but Carrington is now our most-decorated at World Champs level with five golds, and the first since 1987 to win two titles at the same meet.

"It does truly represent how my training has been going which is really positive, especially going into Rio. It doesn't secure anything but it's just leading on a really good path," says Carrington.

Now the raging hot favourite for double Olympic gold, Ferguson's tipping Carrington to be even more dominant next year.

"I'd be surprised if she didn't, she's just too good," says Ferguson. "She's just got to keep on being Lisa really, what she is, is just perfect for the job."

The ultra-focused Carrington remains confident she can get better.

"[It's a] really big year, long year and also a long weekend, it's kind of time to just reminisce and enjoy," she says.

That starts with a well-earned Italian holiday before a scouting mission to Rio.
