Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi was fortunate not to be sent off after appearing to try and choke a player during a friendly match against Roma.
Messi had a run in with Roma defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, first head-butting him and then wrapping his hand around his opponent's throat.
It's unclear exactly what happened, but the two exchanged words before the red mist descended on Messi, who hit Yanga-Mbiwa with the combo.
Messi was yellow carded for the incident, but you must wonder how the referee missed this carry-on considering he was right there.
Barcelona went on to win 3-0, with Messi scoring five minutes after his clash.Watch another angle of the incident below.
