The Clipper Round the World Yacht Race has set sail from London.
The world's longest ocean race features 700 participants from 41 different countries, many of whom have never sailed before this trip – one yacht is crewed by a team of South Africans who had never left their village, or even seen a boat before.
The event was founded in 1996 by veteran yachtsman Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, who 46 years ago was the first person to sail solo nonstop around the world.
Rio is the first stop, before the crews will brave rough seas on a gruelling 64,000km voyage.
