Andrew Mehrtens has no hesitation in putting Dan Carter above himself in the best All Blacks first-fives eighths list.
Carter has smashed Mehrtens' Test point record, and the former 70-cap All Black says nobody deserves a shot at a World Cup final more than Carter.
"For what he's done for New Zealand rugby and world rugby, he really does deserve to get a decent shot at it," Mehrtens said of the possibility of Carter reaching a World Cup final.
"He was very unlucky last time, I think at least this year, maybe the last two years, I suspect all his preparation from within himself and from the staff of the different teams, it's all been geared towards getting him peaking in September, October.
"I still think he's the best and most complete flyhalf in the world, and when he's on his game, he can be untouchable."
