What a journey it has been for the men in black, starting off rather sedately before amping it up when it came to the knock-out stages.
The All Blacks' quest for the cup began against Argentina – a match remembered for a lack of basic skills and a lack of discipline but no lack of passion from the opposition fans.
A couple of late tries got them off to a winning start at 26-16 – rusty first-up performance and more than a few concerns for the coach.
The All Blacks looked to turn up the dial, and the style, against Namibia.
But a 58-14 win was again marred by mistakes and concerns began to grow.
