Breakers shooting star Corey Webster admits last night's 11-point victory over table-toppers Melbourne United was a career highlight.

Webster shot the lights out at Vector with a personal best 39 points, and as skipper Mika Vukona says you've got to strike while the iron is hot.

"He was just unbelievable. He was just hot from the get go and when somebody's hot in this team you just got to keep feeding him the ball and he continued to produce so it was good," Vukona said.

So good in fact, Webster scored half of the Breakers points, shooting seven of nine from three-point range.

But it wasn't just his alley-oop that was receiving high-fives from his teammates.

"Last couple of games he's done a great job of nullifying their threats," Vukona said.

"That's what makes Corey a great player… he's got both sides of the ball covered."

But Webster was quick to point out that his whole team produced a top quality defensive display that kept Melbourne to their lowest total of the season.

"To be a championship team you have to have great defence, you can't just try and outscore teams or anything like that at this level so we always pride ourselves on playing defence and I think we're getting better every game," Webster said.

The Breakers have won six of their last seven games to well and truly assume the mantle of the league's hottest side.

"Knocking off a team like Melbourne is always a big statement. They were number one riding high, and the momentum we're on right now has got to get some attention from the other teams," Tai Wesley said.

It'll be unwanted attention when this party moves to a hostile Perth crowd on Friday night

"You've got to make sure you're in the right mind-frame. We playing against 11,000 people who don't really like you over there, so it's not hard to get up," Vukona said.

Hopefully it's another strike, knocking over the second-placed Wildcats on the road for the first time this season.
