Cronulla Sharks captain Paul Gallen has hinted at a boxing bout with Sonny Bill Williams at the end of 2017.
Gallen and Williams both boast undefeated records in the heavyweight division but have never matched-up in the ring due to busy schedules in other sporting codes.
However, Gallen has placed a time limit on the fight happening.
"I suppose if it doesn't happen in the next 18 months, it's probably not going to happen," Gallen told Fox Sports News.
"Hopefully this time next year or in 18 months it might happen.
"We're talking about it but I suppose it's just hard to line our two schedules up.
"I think Sonny Bill Williams is the end game, to be honest.
"I wouldn't say I've got visions of becoming a world champion or even an Australian champion.
"But when I had my first fight, three or four years ago, everyone said 'oh, you need to fight Sonny Bill'."
Both athletes have been busy with the Rugby World Cup and NRL season this year, with Williams expected to compete for the New Zealand Sevens at the Rio Olympics next year.
