As one of the most experienced players left in the Crusaders squad, Israel Dagg is well aware the onus is on him to lead the backline for the upcoming Super Rugby season.
With eleven new players in the squad, Dagg is one of the senior members and he's expecting to keep it simple in his leadership role.
"If I'm going to talk then I've got to do the walking as well so when I play, when I train, just play well and train well and that's how people are going to follow you," Dagg said.
With team stalwarts such as Richie McCaw and Dan Carter moving on, Dagg believes the side have used the pre-season to forge a new identity.
Dagg feels the side are ready for a new era ahead of the upcoming Super Rugby season.
"I think it's a new era for us at the moment. We've had past players leave and we've had 10 to 12 new players coming in. I think for us it's just about every team has got that goal, everyone wants to win Super Rugby."
Dagg is currently sidelined as he rehabs from a shoulder injury suffered playing for Hawke's Bay last season.
"In about two weeks. I can tackle bags and do everything like that it's just that game contact I haven't done yet so just going to build into that," Dagg said.
However, the injury didn't stop the 48-Test All Black from a cheeky dab during a dance-off at the Super Rugby lunch.
