First five-eighth Stephen Donald could don the Chiefs jersey for the first time since 2011 after being named on the bench for game against the Western Force on Saturday.
The 32-year-old has had stints with Bath in Britain and Japanese side the Mitsubishi Dynaboars since kicking the winning penalty in the 2011 World Cup final before re-signing with the Chiefs for the 2016 season.
Donald is one of a revamped bench but coach Dave Rennie has resisted tinkering with the team that beat the Jaguares in Argentina with a last-minute try.
Siate Tokolahi has been promoted from the bench to the front row while Taleni Seu replaces Johan Bardoul who has been ruled out with a broken thumb.
Brad Weber has been promoted to start at halfback after scoring the winner in Buenos Aires while Seta Tamanivalu replacing Anton Lienert-Brown at centre is the only other change in the backs.
Only Rhys Marshall has held his place on the bench from last week and is joined by Atu Moli, James Tucker, debutant Sam Henwood and Siegfried Fisi'ihoi replacing Pauliasi Manu who suffered a season-ending injury in training.
Manawatu halfback Kayne Hammington and Toni Pulu will also get the chances to make their debut, rounding out the bench.
