Dan Hooker needed just over a minute to choke out Mark Eddiva at UFC Fight Night in Brisbane.
Hooker wasted no time and managed to lock in the guillotine choke early and took Eddiva to the mat as he backed him into the cage.
Eddiva attempt to resist for a moment, but the bout was as good as over from there, Hooker winning in 1:24 to improve to an overall record of 13-6 in the Octagon.
"I said before the fight, I'd be surprised if he made it out of the first round," said Hooker.
"That's not cockiness speaking; I've trained in the States, I've trained with the best fighters in the world and I know that my skillset is world class. I just knew that Mark Eddiva wasn't on my level. I'm one of the best fighters in the world."
Hooker hopes to make his next UFC appearance soon and keep the good form rolling.
"I'm ready to go now. If they want me to fight again, I'm 100 percent injury-free, I'm there. I've got a wedding in a few months, so if we could get one in before then it would be nice."
