David Nyika's Olympic hopes were dashed by a Dutchman at the final Olympic qualifying tournament in Azerbaijan.

The 20-year-old Waikato heavyweight was outpointed in the round of 16 by third seeded southpaw Roy Korving.

Nyika, the Commonwealth Games champion, was New Zealand's only boxer still in contention for Rio.

Light-welterweight Richard Hadlow lost a unanimous points decision to Australian David Biddle to become the fourth New Zealand fighter to fail to advance past the tournament's first round.

Only Nyika won his opening bout after a first round TKO of Togo's Kevin Prudence Kuadjovi.
