Lydia Ko is four shots off the first round pace at the latest LPGA tournament in Arkansas, despite shooting a five-under-par 66.
The world number one is tied for 12th place, after an adventurous finish on the front nine.
Ko scored an eagle at the 7th hole, a bogey at the 8th and then a birdie on her last hole at the Pinnacle Country Club.
Ayako Uehara, who's ranked 215th, equalled the tournament record of 62 to hold a two shot lead.
Compatriot Haru Nomura's made a hole-in-one on the par-three 11th hole with a nine iron.
