The question of who will have the honour of carrying the New Zealand flag at the opening ceremony will be answered in five days' time.

It’s always a big secret until the moment the team enters the stadium, although you can use the old process of elimination to work out just who is in contention.

The general rule of thumb begins with a former gold medallist and with plenty of contenders this time around it's anyone's guess as to who will join the likes of Mahe Drysdale, Barbara Kendall, John Walker and Peter Snell.
