The Chiefs will return to Fiji to play the Crusaders during next year's Super Rugby season with the team's draw released on Tuesday morning.
The first such fixture in Suva was held in 2016, and the Chiefs said in a statement that they pursued a rematch next year due to the fixture's outstanding success.
"We are thrilled to be afforded the opportunity to play in Fiji again in 2017, off the back of a wonderful occasion in Suva last year," they said.
"The people of Fiji love the game of rugby and it is important that we do our bit to promote the standing of the sport in that country."
The Waikato-based team will open their Super Rugby campaign with three New Zealand derbies before hosting the much-anticipated mid-week match against the Lions.
They will kick off its rugby season against the Bulls in Brisbane three days before the inaugural Brisbane Global Tens tournament, which begins on 11 February.
