Coach Paul Henare says his Breakers will have to be struck entirely off Santa's nice list in order for the team to climb off the bottom of the NBL ladder.

The Breakers are on a four-match losing streak and Henare said his team are too nice to hold each other accountable.

"You get frustrated when things don't go to plan and when instructions and processes aren't being followed," Henare told Newshub.

"I think the important thing for us is being able to air those frustrations because it's a good group and at times possibly too nice."

Despite at one point remonstrating heavily with players at their final practice before the Brisbane match, Henare said it was all part and parcel of being a professional sportsman.

"You deal with what's in front of you and you move on.

"We're a bunch of men that spend a whole bunch of time together and it's not always rosy."

It doesn't get any easier for the Breakers who will play three matches in six days.

But Henare said he doesn't particularly want a victory, he just wants to see some mongrel and some heart from his team

"I just want to see us play a good brand of basketball that we know we can play and I want to see us really play for each other and again hold each other accountable."
