Michael van Gerwen has won the 2017 World Darts Championship final over Gary Anderson 7-3 in a ruthless display at London's Alexandra Palace.
Anderson headed into the final as two-time defending champion but the 'Flying Scotsman' was no match for 'Mighty Mike's' rampant form throughout the competition.
Both men traded early blows, but Anderson led 2-1 early in a tight battle. Van Gerwen then stepped up his game, and the big scores started coming as he won 12 of the next 13 legs to lead 5-2.
Anderson fought valiantly and kept his composure to bring the match back to 6-3 but it was too late; van Gerwen wrapped up his second title with a bullseye.
The match broke the record for most 180s thrown in the match - 42.
This year has capped off a remarkable season for van Gerwen, who won 25 trophies in 2016.
"I feel over the moon," he said after the match.
"I had to bring my A-game. I averaged 108, which says a lot about the quality.
"I missed a few doubles, but after that I somehow got back into the game. This feels phenomenal, I worked so hard for this, I won all the majors, and this makes the clean sweep.
Van Gerwen says the World Championship victory was the most important one of the year.
"We all fight for this very hard. I did what I had to do, as Gary is a phenomenal player. I'm over the moon."
Along with taking out the biggest title in the world of darts, van Gerwen will pocket a nice £350,000 (NZ$620,000).
