Kiwi centre Steven Adams has been ruled out of the Thunder's next game against Western Conference rivals the Golden State Warriors.
Adams will miss the game due to the NBA's concussion protocol after he whacked his head on the court in the third quarter during the Thunder's 122-118 win over the Sacramento Kings on Monday (NZ time).
The 23-year old must pass a number of tests which include several steps of increasing exertion from a stationary bike, to jogging, to agility work, to non-contact team drills, and be cleared by the team's physician.
Things could possibly take longer for Adams who has been dealing with severe migraines since he was 14 years old. Headaches are one of the most common symptoms after a concussion.
The Kiwi's absence will be a big loss for the Thunder who are facing a red-hot Warriors team who are coming off a massive 35-point win over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday (NZ time).
Both teams faced earlier in the season, with the Warriors coming out on top 122-96.
Adams' presence on the court was sorely missed during the Thunder big loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday (NZ time).
