Kiwi heavyweight boxer Joseph Parker insists Anthony Joshua has plenty to work on despite beating great Wladimir Klitschko by knock-out in London Sunday morning (NZ time).
Parker watched the fight at a bar in central Auckland as he prepares to defend his WBO belt for the first time against Romanian Razvan Cojanu on Saturday.
The 25-year-old thought the bout between the two giants was exciting but believes he can beat Joshua who holds the IBF, WBA and IBO world heavyweight belts.
"I was excited to watch the fight and I was analysing what I could’ve done against both fighters," said Parker.
"I guess Joshua is the man to beat and he got off the canvas and showed heart but I think every fighter has things they have to work on, like myself, I’ve got a lot to work on myself.
"I think with Joshua his team is going to sit down and analyse what they do right or wrong, I think he’s still got a lot to work on.
Both Joshua and Klitschko went toe-to-toe in front of 90,000 spectators at Wembley Stadium, but the London Olympics gold-medallist Joshua had enough in the tank to outclass the 41-year old Ukrainian.
Parker would like the opportunity to face Joshua in the near future, but he must first defend his title against Cojanu.
"I feel like I have to get past this next fight and I look forward to sitting down and planning a fight with him in the future."
Parker was impressed with Klitschko's performance in a losing effort, but was adamant it was the Brit who deserved the win.
"I think Klitschko looked great, 41 years old he looked in great shape, he’s still got a lot of power. I feel like it could’ve been his fight but I guess the better man won on the day."
With the win, Joshua's record is now 19-0. He is the only current world champion who has won by knock-out in every fight.
