No doubt about it, the All Blacks selectors will not be short on talent when it comes to picking the back three for the Lions series.

Familiar faces such as Julian Savea, Waisake Naholo and Ben Smith have more than staked their claim on a starting spot come June.

New faces have stormed onto the scene in 2017, with Jordie Barrett, Melanai Nanai and David Havilli to name just three, none of whom would look out of place in a black jersey.

Injuries have cost Isarel Dagg and Nehe Milner-Skudder a chance to impress, but both still have time on their hands before the squad is announced on June 8.

So what if all things being equal, all players available and injury free, who should get the nod?

On the proviso that everyone is fit, Ben Smith would be at fullback and Julian Savea on the left wing. The tough call is on the right.

Nehe-Milner Skudder has barely played since his amazing World Cup, while Israel Dagg was superb in his absence.

I'd go with Dagg because his long kicking game allows the All Blacks to play at the right end of the park.

While there's no doubting Jordie Barrett's ability, it's impossible to go past Bender at the back. The man is as close to a god as a rugby player can get.

We haven't seen much of him this season, but once he's back in the black jersey, Lions lookout.

I would love to see David Havili get a crack, he's been in blistering form for the Crusaders, he can do everything and play anywhere, so Israel Dagg misses out while Julian Savea retains his spot on the left.

Take me back to the Rugby World Cup 2015.

Ben Smith's the best fullback in the world, Nehe Milner-Skudder is the best side-stepper I've seen since Cullen, and while Julian Savea can be underwhelming at Super Rugby level sometimes, he's a try-scoring machine for the All Blacks.

If it ain't broken, don't fix it.

Players of this ilk are what will ultimately help prove the difference between the Lions and the All Blacks, and they should all be automatic selections in their respective positions.

Granted, Naholo and Savea mightn't have the all-round skills of some of the other wing contenders, but, like Smith, they are proven finishers who can turn a game with their exceptional attacking ability.

The All Blacks will run the Lions off their feet in winning this series 3-0. Expect to see the back three incumbents, Smith, Naholo and Savea featuring heavily amongst the scorers.

Ben Smith - He's the incumbent and the world's best so you have to pick him at fullback. He can also slot in at wing when required if there's a reshuffle through injury. Picking Smith is a no-brainer despite his recent comeback from injury.

Israel Dagg - Lions tours only come around once in a player's career, so giving a spot to Israel Dagg for all his sterling service in the black jersey can be justified. Like Smith he's had his injury woes of late, but if Izzy's fit you pick him, he won't let you down.

Julian Savea - The 'Big Bus' has constantly delivered on the big stage for the All Blacks. He'll be highly motivated for the Lions tour and likely terrorize whoever has the misfortune of marking him.
