Scott Dixon has moved back to the top of the IndyCar series standings after finishing second in the Detroit Grand Prix.
Dixon finished 6.14 seconds behind Graham Rahal, who claimed his fifth career win.
It was a massive achievement for the Kiwi, surviving a horrific crash at the Indianapolis 500 just six days earlier.
The 36-year old was stilling the feeling the effects of the crash, driving with an injured ankle sustained in the crash.
"It was a tough race no matter what. Physically for me, it was tougher than normal," said Dixon.
"I'm so proud of the whole Camping World crew. They did an amazing job, the car was fast. I probably couldn't get the most out of it, but we were kind of there. But it's great for points."
Dixon takes a two-point lead in the championship standings over rival Helio Castroneves, who finished seventh in the race.
A second race at the Belle Isle Park raceway will take place tomorrow morning (NZ time).
