Sir Colin Meads set to be honoured at Bledisloe Test and games across the country

The late Sir Colin Meads will be honoured at games across the country this weekend, New Zealand Rugby have confirmed.

The passing of the All Blacks great will be observed with a moment's silence prior to the kick-off in Dunedin for New Zealand's Bledisloe Test against the Wallabies, with another "special tribute" to be revealed on the night.

Sam Whitelock, who wears the same No. 5 as Sir Colin, will present his playing jersey to the Meads family after the match.

All national provincial and Heartland championship game's will also be preceded with a moment's silence, with some teams set to honour Sir Colin in their own "own way".

"Sir Colin was a true legend of our game and there has been an outpouring of emotion both inside and outside the rugby community since his passing on Sunday," said NZ Rugby CEO Steve Tew.

"It's only fitting to pause and reflect on the true giant he was and recognise his contribution to both rugby and the country.

"It's an appropriate mark of the status of the man that all provincial championship games up and down the country will pause this weekend to honour Sir Colin’s memory."
