The hairy evolution of Kiwi NBA star Steven Adams

Kiwi basketball star Steven Adams has shown off a brand new look for the upcoming NBA season.

The Oklahoma City center's iconic moustache is no longer, as revealed by teammate Enes Kanter via social media on Thursday morning.

The 24-year-old has opted for a return to his clean-shaven visage, while maintaining the free-flowing locks he's now become synonymous with.

Kanter poked fun at his baby-faced "'Stache brothers" cohort on Twitter, captioning the image "Oops! Somebody got [in] an accident. Noooo!!"

Adams responded to Kanter’s tweet by offering an apology, of sorts.

"My apologies squire. I’ve ready high fived my face with a chair," he replied.

It's the latest in an ever-expanding range of appearances for the towering center since his entrance to the NBA back in 2013.

Bursting onto the scene as a fresh-faced rookie directly out of college, Adams has evolved through a gamut of looks in his first four years as a professional.

From the 'Magnum P.I' moustache to the wild Game of Thrones-inspired 'Khael Drogo', he's never long settled on any one look, and there's every chance we'll see something different come the start of the season in October.
