Former Kiwis captain Benji Marshall honoured his younger brother's NRL debut by leading a powerful haka from the stands in Sydney on Sunday night.
Jeremy Marshall–King came off the bench for the Wests Tigers in their 28-16 win over the Warriors, departing the field post-game to face his older brother and extended family deliver the emotional tribute from the stands.
The club holds a special place in Marshall's heart after serving an 11-year career there which included an NRL Premiership win in 2005, and the 28-year-old was unable to hold back his tears.
"I knew I was going to cry and I actually ended up crying up there," Marshall told Fox Sports.
"As a big brother you watch them grow up and I'm just proud of him.
"I thought what he did tonight coming in at a little bit of notice, coming in to probably the hardest position of hooker, I thought he did a great job."
Seven years his junior, Marshall-King has been a part of the Tigers' development system since 2014, working his way through the ranks with the U20s and reserve grade sides before earning his first-grade call-up for the team's final match of 2017.
The two may have a chance to play alongside each other next season, with Marshall signing on to return to his former club for 2018.
