Sir Russell Coutts has indicated Oracle boss Larry Ellison won't be competing at the next America's Cup in Auckland, according to reports.

Sailing journalist Bob Fisher says Coutts told him that Ellison's team won't be looking to try win back the Cup.

"My understanding is that Oracle/Larry will not be entering," Fisher wrote for Yachts and Yachting in the UK.

"The cost of the Cup has proved too high even for him. Which leaves one to wonder just who will show up?

"Sir Ben indicated, in Bermuda, that Land Rover BAR would continue and it does have the shoreside facilities to handle whatever (within reason) is required.

Orace won the Cup in 2010, and again in 2013, but then lost the Auld Mug earlier in the year against New Zealand in Bermuda.

New Zealand confirmed earlier in the month that the next cup will raced in monohulls.
