Former All Black Carlos Spencer has confirmed he'll make a return to the field at the second edition of the Brisbane Tens in February.
The three-time Super Rugby champion will join his former Blues side at the tournament as a wildcard selection after being chosen via online poll.
"It's going to be amazing to put that Blues jersey back on again," Spencer said in a statement.
"I am very excited to be running around with a bunch of young guys again.
"To get back involved with that culture at a union that has given me so much over the years is going to be very special."
The 35-Test international is one of the most precocious playmaking talents in the game's history, renowned for his innovative approach to attacking play and his endless arsenal of offensive wizadry.
Tournament rules allow each team to sign a wildcard. Spencer will join fellow heavyweights Julian Savea, Kurtley Beale, Conrad Smith, Karmichael Hunt, Liam Messam and Colin Slade in committing to play in the 2018 competition.
The 42-year-old has been dabbling in endurance racing, which has kept him in prime physical condition since his retirement in 2011.
"The body's pretty good. I'm actually training for the Cape Epic (an eight-day, 700km mountain bike race through South Africa’s Western Cape) in March next year, so I’m doing a bit of cycling at the moment."
“I’ve played a couple of social events over the last couple of years, but these guys are a lot fitter, faster and stronger. I’ll be relying on the young guys to put me into space and then back me up so I can offload it. I’m looking forward to the challenge.”
The Brisbane Tens takes place on Saturday February 9 and Sunday February 10 at Suncorp Stadium.
