New Zealand sailor Peter Burling has won the World Sailor of the Year award for the second time.
Burling won the award following a year where he played a key role in Team New Zealand winning the America's Cup.
The awards ceremony was held in Mexico, but the 26-year-old couldn't attend as he is competing in the Volvo Ocean Race with Team Brunel, who are currently participating in the second leg of the Volvo Ocean Race.
"It has been a really cool year up in Bermuda. It's awesome to get the accolade," said Burling.
Team NZ skipper Glenn Ashby was also nominated for the award, along with two French ocean sailors - Thomas Coville and Armel Le Cleac'h.
Burling joins Sir Russell Coutts as the only Kiwi to win the award twice. Coutts won the award in 1995 and 2003.
Other New Zealand men's winners have been Sir Peter Blake (1994) and Mike Sanderson (2006), while 470 crewmates Jo Aleh and Olivia Powrie won the women's award in 2013.
Dutch sailor Marit Bouwmeester took out the women's award.
