All-rounder Doug Bracewell made a triumphant return from a serious knee injury as the Blackcaps beat the West Indies by five wickets in the opening ODI.
Bracewell took 4-55 in a man-of-the-match performance against the Windies, including the prized scalp of Chris Gayle with his first ball.
The 27-year-old was not originally selected in the ODI squad, but was called in after Colin de Grandhomme pulled out after the passing of his father.

It's been a hard road back to the top for Bracewell, who last featured for the Blackcaps in October 2016 largely due to a knee injury that required surgery in January this year.
Speaking to reporters after the match, Bracewell said he was happy to be back in the squad.
"It is exciting to back in the mix. I had a stint on the sidelines in the winter so it is enjoyable to be back playing in this squad," he explained.
"It is great to get the win and I'm looking forward to the next two games in Christchurch."
Bracewell admitted he is still keeping a close eye on his knee as he attempts to return to full health.
"In the first couple of games [with Central Districts] I was a little nervous and anxious. It's improving day-by-day but it's one of those things I've got to manage and monitor," he said.
''It has improved a hell of a lot in the last couple of weeks so there are positive signs there."
The second match of the three-game series is in Christchurch on Saturday.
