EPL wrap: Jesse Lingard fires Manchester United to 3-1 win over Arsenal in London

Arsenal's 12-match home winning streak in the Premier League ended as Jesse Lingard scored twice in a thrilling 3-1 victory for second-placed Manchester United.

Skipper Antonio Valencia and Lingard punished woeful Arsenal defending to put United two ahead inside 11 minutes at the Emirates Stadium and Lingard struck again in the 63rd minute after Alexandre Lacazette's goal revived home hopes.

United who had to play the final 15 minutes with 10 men after record signing Paul Pogba was shown a straight red card for a reckless 'studs up' foul on Arsenal right back Hector Bellerin.

United's first away victory over a "top-six"' rival since Jose Mourinho took charge meant they cut Manchester City's lead to five points, although Pep Guardiola's side host struggling West Ham United on Sunday.

Allardyce era starts with a win for Everton

Earlier, Socceroos star Aaron Mooy's Huddersfield were unable to prevent new coach Sam Allardyce starting his Everton reign with a 2-0 victory.

Gylfi Sigurdsson opened the scoring before Dominic Calvert-Lewin netted to ensure Everton's second win in four days which lifted Allardyce's new side into the top half of the table, while Huddersfield have now lost their last four.

Brighton humbled by Liverpool

Mooy's Socceroos teammate, Mat Ryan, also had a day to forget as his Brighton side suffered a 5-1 hammering at home to Liverpool. The Reds extended their unbeaten run to eight games in all competitions as goalkeeper Ryan was beaten by Emre Can, Roberto Firmino, twice, Philippe Coutinho and a Lewis Dunk own goal.

Hazard brace sinks Newcastle

Two goals from Eden Hazard and one by Alvaro Morata saw Chelsea come from behind to earn a 3-1 victory over Newcastle United in the lunchtime match.

Dwight Gayle gave Newcastle the lead on former boss Rafael Benitez's return to his old club. But Antonio Conte's champions fought back as Hazard equalised in the 21st minute. Spain striker Morata's simple header made it 2-1 for the home side at halftime before Hazard scored his eighth of the campaign from the penalty spot to seal the win.

Pardew draws first game, Spurs draw, Palace off the bottom

Alan Pardew picked up a point in his first game in charge of West Brom as they drew 0-0 against his former club Crystal Palace. But Palace moved off the foot of the table courtesy of Stoke's 2-1 victory at home to struggling Swansea.

Tottenham's winless run in the league was extended to four games after they were held 1-1 at Watford.

Christian Kabasele opened the scoring for the Hornets before Son Heung-min equalised for Spurs, who had defender Davinson Sanchez sent off after his forearm hit Richarlison in the face.

The point still saw Tottenham leapfrog Burnley into sixth place as the Clarets were beaten 1-0 at Leicester, with Demarai Gray scoring the only goal of the game in the sixth minute.
