Kiwi featherweight Shane Young has been signed on to make his second Octagon appearance at the UFC Fight Night in Singapore in June.

The Napier-born fighter, who sports a professional record of 11-4, will take on Filipino Rolando Dy, a stand-up specialist.

Young made his UFC debut in Sydney in November, filling in on late notice against undefeated Australian Alexander Volkanovski.

While he ultimately fell to a comprehensive unanimous decision loss, Young still managed to make an impression in a defeat which snapped a five-fight win streak.

Afforded a full training camp, the 24-year-old believes he's able to compete with anyone in the division.

"I had eight days notice but it was actually off the couch because I thought I wasn't fighting until January," Young told Stuff.

"Every fight from now on is basically on a level of importance that's kind of life-altering. So I just want to put on show all the skills I've developed in the 24 years I've been on this planet."

"Sugar" plies his trade at Auckland's City Kickboxing gym, where coach Eugene Bareman is cultivating a host of rising MMA talent including fellow UFC fighters Israel Adesanya and Dan Hooker.

His opponent Dy (9-6-1) is coming off a unanimous decision victory over Buren Wuliji at the UFC Fight Night in China in November after dropping his first two contests in the Octagon.

The Singapore card will be headlined by a showdown between fan-favourite Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone and England's Leon Edwards, while Australia's Tyson Pedro squares off with Ovince Saint Preux in the co-main event.
