Kiwi pole vaulter Eliza McCartney has bested herself yet again, setting a national record at a competition in Germany overnight (NZ time).
The 21-year-old broke her own national and Oceania record with a monster jump of 4.92m to continue her rich vein of form.
It surpasses her jump of 4.85m, at the time a personal best, in a Diamond League event in Oregon last month by six centimetres.
McCartney’s effort in Mannheim ranks as the second best of the year worldwide behind American Jennifer Suhr’s 4.93m.
It’s also good enough to sit in fourth in the list of all time leaps after Suhr (4.93m), Sandi Morris (5m) and Yelena Isinbayeva (5.06m).
