Kiwi boxer Joseph Parker has won support from an entirely unsurprising source, as he prepares for his heavyweight clash with Brit Dillian Whyte in London next month.
White's bitter rival, Dereck Chisora, has told Sky Sport UK that he expects Parker to prevail in a contest where the winner will likely earn another crack at world champion Anthony Joshua.
"He's going to get battered," said Chisora of Whyte. "Joseph is very fast, it will be a good fight anyway."
Of course, Chisora and Whyte have not been on the best of terms since their controversial 2016 encounter was awarded to the latter on a split-points decision.
The pair had exchanged insults at the official press conference for that fight, with Chisora ultimately throwing a table at his opponent.
That relationship only got worse last month, when they clashed ringside at the Tony Bellew vs David Haye fight. Whyte has since blocked Chisora from his social media accounts to prevent him from posting taunts.
Somehow, they have again ended up on the same card. When Whyte takes on Parker at the O2 Arena, Chisora faces Carlos Takam on the July 29 (NZ time) undercard.
Takam is a familiar face to Kiwi fight fans – he lost to Parker on unanimous points decision in May 2016 and has since fallen to Joshua by technical knockout last October.
