Highlanders flanker Liam Squire has been cited for alleged foul play during the Southerners 30-14 win over the Hurricanes on Friday night.
The All Black squad member spent 10 minutes in the sinbin at the end of the first half for a high shot on Canes winger Julian Savea in an ill-tempered match.
Savea himself is probably lucky television footage couldn't prove he had struck Squire after the incident occurred.
But it was a shoulder strike on halfback TJ Perenara that has drawn the ire of the review committee.
Squire's shoulder made contact with Perenara's head in an 11th-minute ruck – an incident that could have seen the Highlanders play 70 minutes with 14-men.
The citing commissioner deemed the Squire's strike had met the red card threshold upon reviewing the incident post match.
Squire has only just returned to action after recovering from a broken thumb.
