Croatia fans are ecstatic after their national team went through to the FIFA Football World Cup for the first time ever.
The team defeated England 2-1 in extra time in the semi-final at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow.
Newshub reporter Mitch McCann was watching the match with a group of Croatian fans in a Te Atatu bar and captured the moment the final whistle blew.
Crossing live to The AM Show fans could be seen bounding around the room and screaming in joy. Fans surrounded McCann and shouted they always knew Croatia would win.
"We always do it, three games in a row we come from one down and we get it," one fan shouted into the microphone.
Another fan told McCann he was very proud to have been able to witness the win.
"It's just brilliant as a New Zealand born Croatian to be in this first ever final," he said.
"I said to all my English friends 'Guys, this team is better than 98 and this team is going to go all the way and we're going to take France out cause we owe them one from 98,'."
France beat Croatia 2-1 in the 1998 FIFA World Cup semi-final and went on to beat Brazil in the final 3-0.
