The British and Irish Lions are set to face New Zealand as part of a southern hemisphere league tour in 2019.

It will mark the first time the Lions have been assembled in 12 years. They swept the Kiwis 3-0 in 2007, as part of a build-up to the 2008 World Cup.

They last visited New Zealand shores for the 2006 Tri-Nations, where they finished last.

England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland have since disbanded to represent their own individual nations, as part of a bid to grow international rugby league.

The Lions will also play tests in Australia, Papua New Guinea and possibly another Pacific nation, yet to be named, as part of the tour.

The Rugby League International Federation (RLIF) voted to move Australia's proposed UK tour back to 2020 to allow the Lions to head south next year.
