Kiwi golfer Ryan Fox has dropped down the leaderboard at the PGA Championship in Missouri but remains on track to make the cut.

The Auckland pro sits in a tie for 23rd when play was suspended at 3.30pm local time on Friday (Saturday, NZ time) due to inclement weather.

At the time, Fox was one-under par after 12 holes for a tournament score of three-under par, four shots inside the cutline.

The 31-year-old started the day one two-under par, and he quickly doubled his score with back-to-back birdies on the opening holes.

However, a bogey on his ninth hole was his first blemish for the round.

Fox still has six holes to play in his second round and is seven shots behind leader Gary Woodland of the USA who is 10-under par, one clear of Kevin Kisner, who had a six-under 64 to sit nine-under for the tournament.

US Open champion Brooks Koepka and Charl Schwartzel both missed putts on the last for 62s that would have equalled the lowest round in a major. Brooks Koepka fired a blistering 63, equalling the PGA Championship record for lowest round, to leapfrog into outright third at eight
