Kiwi golfer Lydia Ko has made a flying start at Canadian Women's Open, sitting in a tie for third after the first round.
The 21-year-old had six birdies and no bogeys in her opening round at the Wascana Country Club in Saskatchewan on Friday (NZ time).
The Canadian Open is a favourite tournament of Ko's - she’s won it three times, twice as an amateur in 2012, and 2013, and then again as a pro in 2015.
Starting on the back nine, Ko opened her round with three straight birdies and then produced further birdies on two of her next four holes. She then birdied her 16th hole to shoot a six-under 66 for the day.
The Kiwi sits two shots behind leaders Ariya Jutanugarn, Mariajo Uribe and Nasa Hataoka, who all opened with eight-under rounds of 64.
Ko is level with with American Jessica Korda and Australian Minjee Lee.
